Avenged Sevenfold (often abbreviated to A7X) is a heavy metal/hard rock band which formed in 1999 in Huntington Beach, California, United States. The band consists of vocalist M. Shadows, lead guitarist Synyster Gates, rhythm guitarist Zacky Vengeance, bassist Johnny Christ, and former Bad Religion and Suicidal Tendencies drummer Brooks. The music video pays tributes to several other Avenged Sevenfold's videos: 'Afterlife', 'Seize the Day', 'Bat Country'. 'Nightmare' was released as a downloadable track in 'Rock Band 2' on the 27th of July 2010. Following the death of Avenged Sevenfold drummer James “The Reverend” Sullivan in 2009, the band marched on, enlisting the help of Sullivan’s drumming hero, Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy, for their fifth studio album Nightmare. Nightmare is the fifth studio album by American hard rock/heavy metal act Avenged Sevenfold, released on July 27th, 2010. Responsible for the group's first No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart, it is often considered by fans as their darkest release, especially due to the fact that it was recorded only months after the passing of drummer and founding member James 'The Reverend' Sullivan on. In the USA, Avenged Sevenfold were the chosen ones, and the Californian band is now just as famous, even more to the younger audience, than the big ones they used to open for back in 2003. Their operatic and melodic brand of metal comes courtesy of Zacky Vengeance’s punishing heavy riffs and Synyster Gate’s lightning-fast solos.
